Maintaining turf installed from a nearby sod farm requires the right tools and equipment to ensure the grass is properly cared for. Before beginning, it is essential to clear the ground of all construction materials such as wood, cement, and bricks. After installation, it is important to water the new grass within half an hour. Apply at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of water to ensure the soil beneath the grass is very wet, with moisture extending 6 inches (15 cm) below the surface. To cut grass, grass or any other unwanted vegetation from marked areas, use a lawn mower, hoe or shovel.
